Quick answers to the questions we hear the most.
A mentor has already done the work you are trying to do, and shares judgement and context that is hard to write down. Coaching is a separate discipline — structured, goal-focused, and it does not require the coach to have held your job. Visnavigans is a mentoring platform, and our mentors bring coaching methods in where they judge those will help. There is a fuller explanation on our How Mentoring Works page.
Every mentor applies with their professional background and a supporting credential document, and a person at Visnavigans reads it. Nobody can be booked, message a mentee, or appear in search until they have been approved, and approved mentors carry a Verified Mentor badge. We are not a background-check service and we do not audit licences with issuing bodies — our How Mentoring Works page sets out exactly what we do and do not do.
Your payment is taken and the request goes to the mentor, who confirms or declines it. You will see the session under My Bookings marked "Awaiting mentor confirmation" in the meantime, and you get an email as soon as they confirm, with the joining link. If a mentor cannot make it, you are refunded in full.
Yes, within the policy for what you bought. Open My Purchases and use Request a refund on the item. We check it against that policy — how long ago you bought it, and how much of the course you have worked through — and if it qualifies the money goes back to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days.
Only where everyone in the session has agreed to it. Where a session is recorded, the transcript may be reviewed — by automated means and by our staff — to check that mentors are following their agreement, for example that they are not moving the relationship off the platform. Transcripts are kept only as long as that takes and are not used for anything else. You can decline recording.
Because it is what lets us help you. Booking, meeting, messaging and paying through the platform is how we can vet mentors, keep a record of your sessions, support you if something goes wrong, and act if a mentor behaves improperly. If a mentor asks you to move to personal email, a phone number, or to pay them directly, please tell us — you will never be penalised for reporting it.
Apply through Become a Mentor. You will be asked for your professional background and a credential document, and our team reviews every application before anyone can book you. You cannot create a mentor account yourself — that review is the point.
