Changing your email address

Your email is your login, receipt destination, and notification channel. Changing it is straightforward but has a few moving parts. This article covers the full process.

How to change your email

  1. Click your avatar → Account settings.
  2. Find the Email address field.
  3. Enter the new email.
  4. Click Save changes.
  5. We email a verification link to the NEW address.
  6. Open the link — this confirms the change. Until verified, you keep using the old email.

Why the verification step

Without it, anyone who gained temporary access to your account could redirect it to their email and lock you out. Verifying proves you control the new address.

Until verified

  • You still log in with the OLD email and current password.
  • All notifications still go to the OLD email.
  • The change is pending but hasn't taken effect.

After verification

  • Login switches to the NEW email.
  • All future receipts, notifications, and password resets go to NEW email.
  • Past invoices and receipts you already have are unchanged — they're historical records.

What if I can't access the old email anymore?

You still can:

  1. Log in with your old email and current password (assuming you know both).
  2. Change email to the new one as above.
  3. Verify via the new email.

If you've also forgotten the password:

  1. You'll need the email to reset the password.
  2. If the email is genuinely lost (e.g. old work email you can't access), open a support ticket.
  3. We'll ask identity-verification questions (past purchases, payment method last-4, etc.) to confirm you're the account owner, then manually update the email.

Typos in the new email

If you typed the new email wrong:

  • The verification email goes to nobody / wrong person.
  • The change never completes — you stay on the old email.
  • No harm done; just try again with the correct spelling.

Using a temporary email

Please don't use disposable/temp-mail services. If you lose access to that email (they all expire), you lose account recovery paths. We may block known temp-mail domains for new signups.

Business email vs personal

If you're leaving a job and your work email is tied to the account, change to a personal email BEFORE you leave. Once the work email is disabled, you're locked out until support manually fixes it.

Email change affects Stripe?

No — Stripe uses its own email record. If you want to change the email on your Stripe Connect account (for tax documents), do that in the Stripe dashboard separately.

Multiple emails on one account?

Not supported. One email per account. If you want both emails to have access, create a second account or share credentials (not recommended for security reasons).
