Leaving reviews
Reviews are the signal other mentees rely on to choose a mentor or course. Honest, specific reviews help everyone. This article covers how and when to leave one.
When you can review
- Sessions — after the session ends. You have 7 days to leave a review before the window closes.
- Courses — any time after enrolling. Your review says more once you've completed at least a few lessons.
- Bootcamps — after the bootcamp ends.
- Resources — after purchase.
How to leave a review
- For a session: go to My Bookings → the past session → Leave review.
- For a course or bootcamp: open it from My Courses and scroll to the review section, or go to the product's public page and click Review.
- Give a star rating (1–5).
- Write your review. 2–4 sentences is the sweet spot.
- Submit. Your review is published immediately and the mentor is notified.
What makes a useful review
Good: "I'm a career switcher from marketing to data science. Priya's 'SQL for Analytics' course got me from zero to writing joins and aggregations confidently. The exercises were small enough to finish in 15 minutes, which kept me engaged. I'd recommend it to anyone in my situation."
Better than good: specific context + specific takeaway + one piece of honest criticism ("could use more practice problems for window functions").
Not useful: "Great course!" or "Loved it!"
Star scale
- 5 — excellent, would recommend to others
- 4 — very good with minor reservations
- 3 — okay, delivered what was promised but nothing extraordinary
- 2 — disappointing in specific ways
- 1 — avoid
Please don't use 5 as the default. If every mentor gets 5, the signal is useless. Reserve 5 for genuinely excellent experiences.
Honesty and fairness
- Criticize the work, not the person. "The slides were outdated" is fair. "He was rude" is a different category — if true, report it separately.
- Don't retaliate. Low stars for a legitimate refund denial isn't fair to future learners.
- Share both what worked and what didn't. Most sessions have both.
Editing or deleting your review
You can edit your review for 30 days after posting. After that it's locked to preserve the record. Deleting is supported anytime but the slot stays in the mentor's review count.
What mentors see
Mentors see every review publicly. They can respond (but not delete). A thoughtful mentor response to honest criticism is itself a good signal.
If something in your review violates the guidelines
Content moderation happens after the fact. Reviews with personal attacks, protected-class discrimination, or identifying personal info may be removed. Legitimate criticism of the product or service is always welcome.
