Setting up your profile
Your profile is the first thing a mentor sees when you book with them — and the first thing a mentee sees when they consider buying from you. Five minutes here makes a real difference.
What to fill in
- Profile photo — a real photo of your face. Not a logo, not an avatar, not your dog. People trust faces; it's hardwired. Square is best; we'll center-crop anything you upload.
- Display name — your real name, or the name you professionally go by. This is what appears next to your comments, reviews, and bookings.
- Bio — 2–4 sentences. Who you are, what you know, what you're working on. Keep it specific. "Designer" is weak; "product designer working on fintech onboarding" is strong.
- Skills and interests — tags that power matching and recommendations. Pick 5–10.
- Timezone — critical if you ever book live sessions. The platform displays every time in YOUR timezone, so this setting is the reference point for everything scheduling-related.
- Social links — LinkedIn, Twitter/X, website. Optional but builds trust.
How to edit your profile
- Click your avatar in the top-right corner.
- Select "Edit profile" (or "My profile" depending on your role).
- Make changes in the form. Upload photo by clicking the circle on the left.
- Click "Save changes" at the bottom. Changes are instant.
For mentors — additional fields
Mentors have extra profile sections that shape how you appear in search results:
- Headline — one-line value proposition. Shows under your name in every listing.
- Expertise areas — tags mentees filter by. Add up to 5.
- Years of experience — displayed as a badge.
- Hourly rate — for 1:1 session bookings.
- Availability status — "accepting new mentees" vs "fully booked". Toggle anytime.
- Biography — a longer about-me. Where the bio field is one paragraph, the biography can be several.
- Video intro (optional) — 30–60 seconds of you speaking to a mentee. Highest-converting profile element on the platform.
Mentor tip: profiles with a video intro convert 2–3× better than profiles without. If you can't shoot professional video, just record with your phone under good light. Authenticity outweighs production.
Privacy
Everything on your profile is visible to any logged-in user. Your email, phone number, and payment details are never shown publicly. See "Privacy and your data" for specifics on what we store and what we share.
